Welcome!
We are excited to share our interest in genealogy with you! Join us as we search out the past together.
The East Texas Genealogical Society serves six counties in educating both members and the public on topics that are relevant and timely. Whether you have ancestors in East Texas or elsewhere, you will develop the skillset to search out your ancestors.
The East Texas Genealogical Society holds monthly meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 2:00 pm, both in-person and virtual, to accommodate our members. The in-person meetings take place at the Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium, unless there is a tour scheduled elsewhere. Each meeting has a local expert or nationally-known speaker who provides opportunities for the members and the community to learn how to better research and locate their family. There are also Special Interest Groups that meet to cover topics such as DNA, African American Research, and Computer Technology. We also have monthly virtual Power Hours, so make sure to look at our monthly newsletter, The Bulletin, if you are a member of ETGS. These meetings are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, so you can always go to our Facebook page for more information.
Be watching for details of our next meeting and please consider becoming a member of ETGS!
Please go to our Facebook page and feel free to post your own question or help others with their genealogy questions.
There will also be current information about our programs and others that might be of interest to you.
